Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for Beauly to sort and deliver letters and parcels. The role is fixed-term for 9 months with 37 hours per week, including weekends, on a rotating schedule. You’ll be outdoors in all weather, driving a Royal Mail van, and building relationships with customers.

Full training, a uniform, and a dedicated route system are provided. You should have a full UK manual driving licence (up to 6 points) and be physically fit to walk long distances.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 across Monday - Sunday – 08.25am/16:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
