Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Banbury is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in the local area.

This role involves a rotating shift pattern, 37 hours per week across five days in seven, with some weekend work; full training and a uniform are provided, plus a pension, wellbeing support and employee discounts.

Job type: Permanentcontract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:15 to 16:15/08:20 to 18:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
