Job summary

Royal Mail's Kidlington Delivery Office is hiring a Postie to sort and deliver letters and parcels across our local area, building relationships with customers and working outdoors.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, fitness to walk long distances, and a willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily. You’ll work weekends and 1 in 5 Sundays as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).

Location: Kidlington Delivery Office, OX5 2DW

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37.00 hours per week – working 6 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday, 1 in 5 weeks off – 06:45/15:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 1 in 5 Sundays at Kidlington Delivery Office from 07:30.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
