Job summary

Royal Mail in Bicester is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels, using a Royal Mail van and walking routes in the local area. You will work outdoors in all weather, building relationships with customers while maintaining a high standard of service.

The role offers a 37-hour week with rotating shifts across 5 days in 7, including weekends, and a starting rate of £13.68 per hour plus overtime. Full training and a uniform are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags

Location: Bicester Delivery Office, OX26 4ZZ

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00-16:00 and 13:30 - 20:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 3 in 4 Sundays at Delivery Offices local to Bicester.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
