Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Syston to join our trusted network. You’ll deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot in your local area, on a rotating shift including Sundays, and outdoors in all weathers.

This role is 30 hours per week over four days, with full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van. You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (6 penalty points max) and be prepared for a driving assessment and physical work.

Location: Syston Delivery Office, LE7 1GP

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 4 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Syston Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
