Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Altrincham is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join the team on a fixed-term contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot in the local area, and build relationships with customers. The role involves outdoor work in all weather and weekend shifts.

Full manual UK driving licence required, ability to pass a driving assessment, and fitness for long-distance walking and lifting mail bags are essential. Training is provided and a company van is supplied.

Qualifications

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working (X) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 14:00/20:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
