Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie in Acharacle to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating schedule. You will work outdoors, in all weather, for 35 hours per week on a 9-month fixed-term contract, with training and a uniform provided.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, ability to pass a driving assessment, and reliability. Overtime is paid and shifts include weekends.

Location: Royal Mail, PH36 4JL

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 35:00hours per week – working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday – 11:15/18:15*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work at Acharacle Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
