Job summary

Royal Mail in Crieff is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term contract of 9 months. The role is 37 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a £13.68 per hour rate plus paid overtime and a rotating shift pattern.

You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build strong relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers. Training and a red van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Reliable and self-motivated with a customer-focused approach.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently in all weathers.
• Able to walk long distances and carry mailbags.
• Good organisational skills and resilience in a busy environment.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30am/18:30pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll may be required to work out of a local delivery office during the busiest periods.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
