Job summary

Royal Mail in Peterhead is looking for a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) on a fixed-term contract for 9 months. You’ll deliver letters and parcels, work outdoors in all weather, and follow a rotating shift that includes weekends.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence and the fitness to walk long distances and lift mailbags. Full training is provided, with a uniform and a Royal Mail van.

Qualifications

Location: Peterhead Delivery Office, AB42 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 25:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00am/20:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand. You may also be required to work out of local delivery offices during the busiest periods.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
