Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Greenock, Inverclyde Delivery Office. Work 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a rotating schedule and some weekends. Full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van provided.

You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, staying active while connecting with the community, and earning overtime where available. The role emphasises independence, routine, and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • A full manual UK driving licence (minimum 6 penalty points)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily
  • Physically fit and able to walk long distances

Job description

Location: Inverclyde Delivery Office, PA15 4RD

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:30/15:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
