Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Salisbury is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract of 6 months. The role involves sorting letters and parcels, delivering by van and on foot in Salisbury, and working a rotating schedule including weekends.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract(6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 32:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:19/15:05*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Salisbury Delivery Office (SP2 7QP).

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
