Job summary

Royal Mail in Kingsbridge is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot across the local area, working 37 hours per week on a 5-in-7 rotating schedule, including Sundays.

You will be trained, provided a uniform and a red Royal Mail van, and you’ll build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers. Overtime is paid, and the role offers a structured routine with varying daily routes.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (minimum 6 penalty points) and ability to pass a driving assessment.
• Comfortable walking long distances and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated, with strong organisation and resilience.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Kingsbridge Delivery Office.

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
