Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Shaftesbury to sort and deliver letters and parcels. You will work outdoors, in all weather, and build relationships with customers while handling high volumes on your route.

Role involves a 37-hour week with rotating shifts, Sundays on a rota basis, and potential overtime. Training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00 - 16:00/10:00 - 18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays on a rota basis, from 09:00 to 16:00.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
