Job summary

Royal Mail in Clevedon is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, 37 hours per week across Monday to Sunday. The role is fixed-term for 12 months with overtime opportunities and requires a full manual UK driving licence and the ability to pass a driving assessment.

You’ll work outdoors in all weather, on route delivery by van and on foot, building relationships with customers while staying active and connected to the community.

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 12 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:15/21:00* Supporting separate shifts between 07:15 - 15:30 & 10:00 - 18:00 & 13:00 - 21:00 at peak periods, supporting Letter Deliveries & Parcel Deliveries

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays at Weston super Mare Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
