Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bristol for a fixed-term 9-month contract. The role is 30 hours per week, with a rotating schedule including Sundays, delivering letters and parcels in the local area from Bristol South East Delivery Office.

You'll work outdoors in all weather, walk long distances, drive a Royal Mail van, and provide excellent customer service while building relationships with residents. Full training and a uniform are provided.

Job type: Fixed Term 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:10/16:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Bristol South EastDelivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
