Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Grange Over Sands to deliver letters and parcels on a 26-hour week schedule, over four days in seven. The role is fixed term for six months with an hourly rate of £13.68 and paid monthly, plus overtime.

You'll work outdoors in all weather, build relationships with customers, and follow a rotating shift pattern including weekends. Full training and a uniform are provided, with a route that may vary with demand.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused with good organisation.

Working hours: 26:00 hours per week - working 4 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday - 09:00 - 16:00

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
