Royal Mail Garstang Delivery Office in PR3 1YA is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 10-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, work a 30-hour week on a rotating schedule including some weekends, and may include later shifts during peak periods.

You will need a full manual UK driving licence (limited points), be physically fit to walk long distances and lift mailbags, and enjoy working outdoors and independently.

Location: Garstang Delivery Office, PR3 1YA
Job type: Fixed Term contract 10 months
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30/16:00*, Christmas Period will require later shifts.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.
You’ll be required to work Sundays at Garstand Delivery Office once every 4 weeks.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
