Job summary

Royal Mail in Godalming is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team, delivering letters and parcels in the local area on a 30-hour-per-week rota.

You will work on rotating shifts, some weekends, with full training provided and a safety-first approach in all weather conditions.

Role includes Sundays at Guildford Delivery Office on a rotating basis and requires a full UK driving licence and physical fitness to handle bags and routes.

Qualifications

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10 kg+ mail bags.

Location: Godalming Delivery Office, GU7 1AA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/15:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Guildford Delivery Office from 12:00 to 18:00, 1 every 4 weeks.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
