Job summary

Royal Mail in Caerphilly is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to sort letters and parcels at the delivery office and deliver them by van and on foot across the local area.

The role is a fixed-term contract of 6 months, 27.5 hours per week on a rotating schedule that includes some weekends. It offers a starting rate of £13.68 per hour with overtime available and full training provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with a customer-focused approach.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 27:30hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday

• Sunday –09:00/19:00*Supporting two separate shifts, either 09:00
• 15:00 Letter Deliveries or 12:00
• 19:00 Parcel Deliveries.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in six Sundays at Cardiff North Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
