Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Brentford is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort mail at the delivery office, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers while working 37 hours per week on a rotating shift that includes weekends.

You must hold a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and be willing to drive a Royal Mail van, with training provided.

Location: Brentford Delivery Office, TW45XX

Job type: Fixed Term, contract 9 months

Salary: £16.24 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - Need to be able to cover shifts ranging from 07:00am - 14:00pm to 12:00pm - 19:00pm.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Brentford Delivery Office on a rota basis between 8:00am to 16:00pm.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We\'ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You\'ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
