Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Hounslow is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team and deliver letters and parcels in the local area. You will drive a Royal Mail van and walk routes, building strong relationships with customers as you complete deliveries.

The role requires working outdoors in all weather, on a 30-hour week with 5 days in 7, including weekends and occasional Sundays. Full training, uniform, and a supplied van are provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

Location: Hounslow Delivery Office, TW3 1AA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:00 to 14:00 or 14:00 to 20:00.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays on occasion.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
