Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Banff to deliver letters and parcels across the local area. You will work a 35-hour week on a rotating shift, including weekends, with a fixed term contract. Expect outdoor work in all weather and regular customer contact as part of the role.

The job involves sorting at the delivery office, driving a Royal Mail van, and delivering in your community. Full training, a uniform, and a company van are provided.

Job type: Fixed Term contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 35:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/16:45*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions


• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels


• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)


• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags


• Reliable and self-motivated


• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment


• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service


• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
