Job summary

SEN Teacher role with TeacherActive Ltd in Sutton, South London, supporting Post-16 learners with SEND including autism and complex needs. Plan differentiated lessons to develop communication, independence, and life skills, preparing students for adulthood.

Role is full-time and on-site, requires Enhanced DBS, and offers competitive daily rates (£190–£300). PAYE payroll with ongoing CPD opportunities and career support.

Qualifications

• QTS/QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Post-16 SEND students is essential.
• Experience with autism, PMLD, SLD and complex SEND is essential.
• Knowledge of sensory curriculum approaches and intensive interaction.
• Experience using Makaton, AAC or other alternative communication methods.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons for Post-16 SEND students.
• Support learners with PMLD, SLD, autism and complex needs.
• Develop communication, independence and functional life skills.
• Prepare Post-16 learners for greater independence and adulthood.
• Support sensory regulation, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
• Work with Speech and Language Therapists, OTs, physiotherapists and healthcare professionals.
• Record and monitor progress using small-step achievement frameworks.
• Create a positive, structured and safe learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise student wellbeing.
