Job summary

Monzo is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team. You will work across core infrastructure and application platform, split between platform/infrastructure engineering and software/backend engineering.

You’ll use Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, Terraform and Envoy to build scalable, reliable primitives for engineering teams and to support rapidly growing product capabilities. This role offers flexible UK-wide distribution with in-person meetings in London.

Qualifications

• / Solid foundation in practical software development.
• / Experience with AWS and/or GCP and Kubernetes.
• / Automation and Infrastructure as Code experience (e.g., Terraform).
• / Curiosity about systems and how distributed apps fail and scale.
• / Platform-minded with focus on reliability and developer experience.
• / Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance foundational tools and systems for platform engineering.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs to support the platform.
• Collaborate with platform teams to enable internal services and tooling.
• Advise on cloud infrastructure, deployments and observability.
