Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a growing firm of Chartered Accountants to hire a Client Accountant/Portfolio Manager at their West Wickham practice. The role offers a salary of up to £55k, along with auto-enrolment pension scheme and excellent career progression routes.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be an ACA or ACCA qualified senior or finalist accountant with solid experience managing their own client portfolio. The practice prides itself on delivering excellent service to individuals and OMBs in Kent, Surrey, and South London. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow within a close-knit, reputable team.

Responsibilities
  1. Managing a portfolio of clients, including the preparation of statutory (FRS 102(1A) and FRS 105) and non-statutory accounts, corporate tax, partnership, and self-assessment tax returns, along with business tax computations for limited companies, LLPs, partnerships, sole traders, and individuals. Also, preparing quarterly VAT returns.
  2. Maintaining effective communication with clients through regular meetings and documenting notes on practice software.
  3. Recording daily work hours and reviewing client WIP monthly; raising client bills promptly.
  4. Managing client budgets and time effectively.
  5. Onboarding new clients, including meetings and providing fee estimates.
  6. Addressing accountancy and tax queries from clients and staff with clear communication.
  7. Assisting with new accounting regulations and tax projects as they arise.
  8. Conducting technical research and informing clients of legislative changes affecting them.
  9. Supporting practice IT systems to improve efficiency.
  10. Collaborating effectively within the team.
  11. Assisting senior staff as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 2 years of practice experience.
  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Good knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105.
  • Proactive in work prioritization and time management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Logical, analytical, with high attention to detail.
  • Experience with accounting software such as FreeAgent, Xero, QuickBooks, and proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Desirable: Working knowledge of IRIS.
  • Professional appearance and punctuality, fitting into a diligent office culture.
