Job description

Ballinger & Co. is an independent provider of foreign exchange risk management and trading services to financial institutions and corporate clients with large and complex FX requirements.

Launched in 2020 by the team behind the UK's largest non-bank Foreign Exchange specialist, Ballinger & Co. has quickly become the go-to provider for clients underserved by banks and other FX brokers. We are well-funded, growing rapidly, and profitable from the outset.

Whether you are starting your career in finance or have a sales background looking to move into financial services, the Portfolio Manager role at Ballinger & Co. offers a competitive starting salary, a range of benefits, and the opportunity to earn uncapped commissions and progress based on merit. You will receive training and mentorship from our founders, who have a collective 75 years of FX experience.

The Role:

As a Portfolio Manager, you will be on the front line of our sales team. You will engage directly with C-suite executives of target clients, making initial contact via telephone. After researching potential clients, you will qualify their FX requirements, match them with our solutions, build relationships, and generate interest.

Our team is highly collaborative and supportive. You will be accompanied from the second call until a client is onboarded and ready to trade with our dedicated team of traders. You will own these client relationships, gradually building a portfolio over time.

The role offers a competitive starting salary (up to £40k based on experience) and uncapped commissions. Successful candidates can expect to earn £100k+ within the first year. Career progression opportunities include roles with international travel and higher earning potential.

Responsibilities:
  1. Source new sales opportunities through outbound cold calls, follow-up calls with senior management, emails, and meetings.
  2. Understand customer needs and requirements.
  3. Route qualified opportunities to senior executives for further development and closure.
  4. Close sales and achieve targets.
  5. Research accounts, identify key players, and generate interest.
  6. Maintain and expand your prospect database within your assigned industry or territory.
  7. Collaborate with sales managers, risk & compliance departments to onboard clients, build pipelines, and close deals.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Confident, ambitious, and highly motivated to succeed.
  • Interested in business and markets, demonstrating independent thinking.
  • Willing to listen and learn from our experienced team.
  • A graduate with a BA/BSc (preferred).

If experienced, candidates will demonstrate:

  • Proven sales experience (industry experience not required).
  • A track record of over-achieving quotas.
  • Strong phone presence and experience making numerous calls daily.
  • Proficiency with corporate productivity and communication tools.
  • Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce.com.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
Benefits:
  • Private Healthcare Plan
  • Pension Plans
  • Leave Package
  • Training & Development
  • Employee Assistance Programme
