Job summary

Carlisle Support Services is seeking a Security Officer for the Wirral port area. You will be part of a proactive security team, patrolling onshore facilities and screening vehicles and personnel. The role requires a valid SIA licence, 18+ age, and the ability to work across shifts, including nights.

Induction includes ISPS Code training; full training is provided. The position offers progression opportunities and a pension, with a competitive hourly rate and access to wellbeing plans.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old for front-line licensable activity.
• Hold a valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
• Ability to provide a 5-year checkable work and address history.
• Willingness to complete the ISPS Code Course as part of induction.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional, visible and proactive security presence across the port.
• Conduct vehicle searches, including driver cabs, trailers, and cargo areas.
• Verify passes, permits and identifications to ensure authorised entry.
• Control access and egress points and conduct routine patrols.
• Monitor for security breaches, hazards or safety concerns and escalate as required.
• Work with Port Police, Border Force and other stakeholders to maintain safety.
• Guide drivers, visitors, contractors and staff as a first point of contact.
• Manage incidents professionally and maintain composure in conflicts.
