Job summary

Carlisle Support Services is seeking motivated individuals to join our port security team in Eastham. You will provide a professional security presence, conduct vehicle and driver checks, and manage access across the port while collaborating with Port Police and Border Force.

We offer full training, a competitive hourly rate, and ongoing development. Eligibility requires a valid UK driving licence, SIA licence, and the ability to work day and night shifts outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Must be 18 years or older due to front‑line licensable activity.
• Valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
• Ability to provide a 5‑year checkable work and address history.
• Willingness to complete ISPS Code Course during induction.
• Comfortable conducting vehicle, trailer, cab and personnel searches.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather at a busy port.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and professional in appearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide a professional, visible security presence across the port.
• Conduct vehicle searches, primarily HGVs, including cab, trailer and cargo checks.
• Verify passes, permits and identifications to ensure authorised access.
• Control access points and monitor for security breaches and hazards.
• Coordinate with Port Police, Border Force and other stakeholders.
• Assist drivers, visitors and employees as a first point of contact.
• Handle incidents professionally and follow security procedures.
