Job summary

DP World in Southampton is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team, responsible for planned maintenance, fault finding and repairs across port equipment and infrastructure to keep assets safe, reliable and operational.

You will work across mechanical and electrical systems, interpret drawings, and support apprentices while contributing to continuous improvement within a safety‑driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative and corrective maintenance across port equipment and infrastructure.
• Diagnose faults and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain and inspect equipment including power systems, barriers, lighting and generators.
• Work across workshops and asset groups to meet business requirements.
• Apply mechanical and/or electrical expertise across hydraulic, pneumatic, control and PLC systems.
• Interpret drawings and maintenance documentation to support fault finding and repairs.
• Record defects and maintenance activities using company systems.
• Work safely following permit-to-work, isolation, PPE and environmental procedures.
• Support projects and continuous improvement to enhance reliability and maintenance performance.
• Coach and develop apprentices and junior technicians.
