Job summary

Forth Ports Group is seeking an Engineering Technician (Electrical) for the Port of Tilbury. You will perform planned maintenance and reactive repairs across grain terminal plant and equipment to ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires fault-finding on fixed plant and a flexible, collaborative team approach within a rotational shift pattern, including weekends. Applicants should have electrical/mechanical engineering qualifications and port/industrial experience.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 2–3 years’ maintenance experience.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including PLCs, automation, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Proven ability to fault-find in an industrial fixed plant and equipment environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety, environmental standards, quality management and food safety regulations.
• Experience operating heavy plant and mobile platforms in a port/industrial setting.
• Shift work experience with flexibility for weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and condition monitoring across plant and equipment.
• Develop understanding of terminal plant to support efficient repairs and minimise downtime.
• Carry out installations, improvements and modifications to plant, systems and equipment.
• Promptly report damage or concerns to Engineering or Operational Managers.
• Undertake fuelling, lubrication and cleaning to support operations.
• Communicate status updates to team and managers.
• Prepare engineering reports and maintain required documentation.
• Follow instructions from Engineering Supervisors and Managers.
• Work across workshops and operational areas, ensuring compliance.
