Job summary

The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) is seeking a Policy Officer - Refugee Resettlement to lead Wales-wide coordination of refugee resettlement schemes and act as a primary contact for partners across migration, asylum and resettlement sectors.

You will support programmes including UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS), Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP), and other safe and legal routes, working with 22 Welsh local authorities and national partners.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of refugee, asylum and migration policy.
• Experience of developing and presenting policy information and guidance.
• Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and analytical skills.
• Experience of managing projects and grants successfully.
• A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Degree-level education (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate refugee resettlement programmes and placements across Wales.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with government departments, councils and third-sector organisations.
• Provide policy advice and guidance on migration, asylum and resettlement issues.
• Monitor and analyse policy developments and their impact on Welsh local government.
• Prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for a range of audiences.
• Support programme governance, grant monitoring and performance reporting.
• Facilitate multi-agency collaboration and promote effective integration outcomes for refugees.
