Job summary

Northumbria Police is seeking a Mobile Communications Technician at Ponteland Police Station to deliver and support mobile communications technologies, including handheld radios, car radios, mobile devices and related infrastructure. The role requires configuration, fault diagnosis, installations and system maintenance to keep services secure and fit for purpose.

Qualifications

• Experience configuring, troubleshooting and repairing communications equipment.
• Ability to manage IT assets and equipment records accurately.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist support for communications technology, including configuration, installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of radios and devices.
• Manage lifecycle of Airwave terminals, ensuring devices are configured, issued, repaired and tracked.
• Configure, deploy and support smartphone devices with record-keeping through MDM systems.
• Deliver demonstrations on Airwave and smartphone equipment to maximise effectiveness.
• Maintain stock levels of communications devices to ensure responsive policing services.
• Work with technical teams to translate complex information into practical solutions.
