Job summary

North Yorkshire Police are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join the Applications & Development Team in Northallerton. The role supports frontline emergency services by designing, developing and maintaining business-critical applications used by police, fire and staff.

You will work in a collaborative team to deliver secure, reliable technology, contribute to roadmaps and handle incidents, with on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• / You must have the right to work in the UK with no restrictions on employment/
• / Internal applicants must have completed probation
• / Residency for vetting: MV Level requires minimum 5 years UK residency
• / Right to drive a UK manual vehicle
• / Experience in public sector/policing/emergency services
• / Experience managing technical projects from initiation to delivery

Responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of the applications strategy and roadmap.
• Design, implement and maintain secure, robust and highly available application solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support application incidents and service improvements.
• Contribute to projects from design to business-as-usual support.
• Liaise with suppliers and third-party providers to meet outcomes.
• Maintain application security, resilience and compliance standards.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Act as a subject matter expert within ICT.
• Participate in an on-call rota for 24-hour support.
