Job summary

SANZA Teaching Agency is recruiting a Teaching Assistant (PMLD) to join a primary school in Newham. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities within a specialist provision, working alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to help pupils access learning.

You will help pupils develop communication skills and independence, using PECS, communication boards, eye gaze and other AAC systems, while promoting wellbeing and positive behaviour

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex needs.
• Patient, resilient and caring approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to inclusion and equality.
• Confidence supporting pupils with personal care needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with PMLD and complex needs
• Assist with communication using PECS, communication boards, eye gaze and other AAC systems
• Support sensory learning activities
• Provide personal care where required
• Promote independence and social interaction
• Follow programmes set by teachers and therapists
• Monitor pupil progress and engagement
• Support emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour
