Job summary

GSL Education is recruiting a PMLD Teaching Assistant for a special school in South East London on a full-time, long-term basis. You will support students with profound and multiple learning difficulties to access learning and participate in activities tailored to their needs.

Ideal candidates have SEN experience, a compassionate approach and can work closely with teachers, therapists and other staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment for learners with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEN students
• Understanding of PMLD and complex needs
• Willingness to support personal care
• Calm, patient and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork
• Full-time availability

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with PMLD and complex needs
• Support students with their learning, development and daily activities
• Assist with personal care, including toileting and feeding where required
• Support students with communication and sensory needs
• Help create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other members of the school team
• Build strong, trusting and supportive relationships with students
