Job summary

NextGen Teachers is seeking a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Croydon. You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities, including non-verbal pupils and wheelchair users, in a hands-on care and education setting.

The role involves assisting with communication, sensory activities and personal care and, where trained, PEG/gastrostomy feeding, plus moving and handling.

Qualifications

• Experience with PMLD, SEND, care or residential care is preferred.
• Full training is provided.
• Comfort with personal care and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs.
• Assist non-verbal pupils and wheelchair users.
• Facilitate communication, sensory activities and learning.
• Provide personal and intimate care.
• Assist PEG/gastrostomy feeding per plans.
• Move and handle pupils safely when required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff.
