Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Sutton. You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, delivering 1:1 and small group activities, and assisting with communication, personal care and physical needs.

The role involves collaboration with teachers, therapists and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with PMLD, SEN or complex needs.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach.
• Comfortable supporting pupils with personal care needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD.
• Assist students with learning, communication, personal care and physical needs.
• Support pupils using Makaton and PECS where appropriate.
• Work with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver learning programmes.
• Support sensory activities to enhance engagement and development.
• Promote students' independence, wellbeing, and social development.
