Job summary

Network Plus is seeking a skilled Plumbing Technician to deliver on-site support for the United Utilities Water Mains Rehab Contract across the North West, including Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester and Lancashire. You will investigate and resolve issues directly at customer properties, ensuring compliance with safety and network standards.

The role requires practical plumbing experience, fault-finding ability and strong communication to reassure customers.

Qualifications

  • Recognised plumbing qualification or demonstrable plumbing experience.
  • Experience of fault finding and diagnosing plumbing issues.
  • Experience dealing with blockages, restricted supplies and low-pressure issues.
  • Good understanding of domestic water systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend customer properties to investigate and resolve reports of poor pressure, restricted supply, loss of water supply and other water-related issues following planned or reactive works.
  • Organise and undertake the inspection, cleaning, repair or replacement of affected fittings and appliances, including tap filters, taps, showers and toilet fittings where impacted following work on the water network.
  • Carry out diagnostic checks to identify the cause of supply or plumbing issues, determining whether faults lie within the water network or the customer's internal plumbing.
  • Undertake minor plumbing repairs, remedial works, blow backs and the clearance of blockages or restrictions where appropriate.
  • Investigate issues arising from planned shut-offs, mains connections, rehabilitation works and other operational activities, escalating matters requiring further network intervention.
  • Communicate findings, actions taken and recommendations clearly to customers, providing reassurance and handling concerns professionally and sensitively.
  • Accurately record all visits, investigations, photographs and completed works using company systems.
  • Work collaboratively with Customer Managers, Customer Liaison Officers and operational teams to deliver positive customer outcomes and reduce repeat contacts and complaints.
  • Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant industry standards.
  • Support wider customer-focused and operational activities as required, including proactive customer visits, supply checks and the distribution of customer information.

Description

This role will provide a dedicated plumbing resource to support the Customer Team and operational delivery teams, enabling customer issues to be investigated and resolved quickly and helping to prevent avoidable repeat contacts and complaints.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Plumbing Technician to join our team working on the United Utilities Water Mains Rehab Contract across the North West. We are looking for someone who is technically capable, practical, and confident dealing directly with customers.

The successful candidate will attend customer properties to investigate and resolve issues such as poor water pressure, restricted or blocked supplies, air in the system and other plumbing-related problems following water mains replacement schemes. You will work closely with our Customer Team and operational site teams to identify

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements
  • Recognised plumbing qualification or demonstrable plumbing experience.
  • Experience of fault finding and diagnosing plumbing issues.
  • Experience of dealing with blockages, restricted supplies and low-pressure issues.
  • Good understanding of domestic water systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative when diagnosing faults.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Comfortable using mobile technology to record jobs and customer visits.
  • Ability to work flexibly across the North West (Cheshire, Merseyside, Manchester, Lancashire)
Desirable
  • Experience working within the water industry or on utility contracts.
  • National Water Hygiene accreditation.
  • Experience working around water mains rehab or network operations.
  • Experience dealing directly with customers in their homes.
