Job summary

Onward Repairs is expanding its in-house service for Wirral and Runcorn. You’ll perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance in customers’ homes, focusing on first-time fixes where possible. A full UK driving licence is required to access properties and complete our service offer.

You’ll join a supportive, skilled team delivering safe, well-maintained homes while following best practice and delivering excellent customer experiences daily.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plumbing and relevant experience.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car.
  • Desirable: Health & safety qualifications (COSHH & PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Delivery in line with Onward’s specification, assess and undertake cost-effective repair solutions.
  • Organise materials and communicate with customers and colleagues to deliver high-quality service.
  • Maintain adequate stock and PDAs to document job progress and access details.
  • Provide excellent customer service and prompt workmanship.
  • Ensure all work is safe and compliant with health and safety requirements.

About The Role

  • £35,300 per annum with opportunity for additional earnings through participation in our ‘out of hours’ standby service on a rota basis
  • Multi skilled allowance of up to £750 per annum when accredited as multi skilled in tiling, plastering, or plumbing, subject to conditions.

We’re growing Onward Repairs team and investing in our in‑house service to deliver excellent repairs and maintenance across the Wirral and Runcorn . As a Plumber, you’ll play an important role in maintaining and improving our customers’ homes, carrying out a wide range of repairs and maintenance work to a high standard. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, skilled and expanding team, helping to provide safe, secure and well‑maintained homes while delivering an excellent customer experience. You’ll be part of a team that takes pride in delivering quality workmanship, achieving first‑time fixes wherever possible, and making a positive difference to our customers and communities every day. The purpose of the role is to deliver property maintenance services, undertaking repair activities predominantly within customer’s homes, but also voids and for other clients as required. Please note that a full UK driving license is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • DeliveryIn line with Onwards specification or approved best practice assess, coordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money.
  • Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.
  • Ensure an adequate store of materials are available to operatives, including van based stock. Proactively organise workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.
  • Customer ServiceTo provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard.
  • Liaison and technical adviceLiaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs.
  • QualityEnsure all work is delivered to a high standard.
  • RecordsTo complete jobs on PDA’s and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.
  • Health and SafetyUndertake work activities in line with all health and safety requirements demonstrating a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices. Assisting the promotion of Health & Safety.
  • Work equipmentOperation of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures. To be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles
Skills and experience
  • Essential: Sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations.
  • Proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service.
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment.
  • Experience of using PDA technology (hand held/mobile working technology) to record jobs.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own car.
  • Desirable: Experience of working within a commercial and domestic property maintenance environment.
  • Experience of delivering services within the social housing sector.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Plumbing and relevant experience.
  • Appropriate CSCS card.
  • Desirable: Hold relevant health & safety qualifications which relate to the sector/construction industry in general.
  • Asbestos awareness training.
  • Relevant power tool training.Manual handling training.
  • Appropriate and current training in COSHH & PPE.
  • Access equipment and working at height training e.g. mobile work platforms.
