Job summary

Paddle seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability across the Paddle platform, partnering with product teams to enable engineers and improve automation. The role focuses on infrastructure, SLOs, incident response, and scalable systems, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and security.

You’ll have influence over technology choices and tooling, participate in disaster recovery exercises, and contribute to cost optimisation efforts across AWS services as the platform scales.

Qualifications

• Significant software development background with production services experience.
• Experience across the AWS ecosystem and collaboration with AWS specialists.
• Curiosity about AI and its impact on software development.
• Collaborative, security-minded, detail-oriented; thrives in fast-paced settings.
• Knowledge of platform and ops concepts such as networking and Linux administration.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with monitoring tools like OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, Grafana.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain tools to maximise engineering efficiency, including automation of deployment infrastructure and database upgrades.
• Identify processes for automation; drive Developer Experience as a central goal.
• Create, maintain and test disaster recovery processes and tooling.
• Choose from AI tools to support day-to-day work with sensible guardrails.
• Handle production incidents; write blameless postmortems and update runbooks.
• Monitor, alert, and track SLOs; perform hands-on SRE work beyond basic monitoring.
• Run performance investigations and optimise costs across AWS services and data stores.
• Advocate for GitOps practices and reliable, scalable operations.
