Job summary

Elsevier in Exeter is seeking a Journal Manager to coordinate operational readiness for publishing platform rollouts. You will work with Operations teams to ensure successful adoption, training and smooth transition to BAU, while managing readiness across people, processes and systems.

The role involves hybrid working with one day per week in the Exeter office, and close collaboration with suppliers and internal stakeholders to minimise risk and disruption.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering platform deployments and operational readiness in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of systems, workflows and downstream operational impacts.
• Ability to translate technical change into clear operational guidance.

Responsibilities

• Define and assess readiness across people, processes, systems, data and dependencies.
• Coordinate readiness inputs, go/no-go decisions, deployment plans and pre-go-live checks.
• Identify gaps, risks and blockers and drive corrective actions before deployment.
• Assess what is changing, who is impacted and how ways of working will be affected.
• Coordinate communications, training and enablement to support adoption.
• Monitor adoption during rollout and early BAU, identifying confusion, workarounds and risks.
• Maintain alignment across Operations, Support and suppliers throughout deployment and stabilisation.
• Support transition through hypercare and aftercare into BAU and feed lessons learned into future readiness criteria and rollout planning.
