Job summary

The Royal Society of Chemistry in Cambridge is seeking a Publishing Platform Manager to oversee our journals publishing platform. You will collaborate with our Publishing, Product Management and vendor teams to shape the roadmap and ensure the platform supports our publishing strategy.

Qualifications

• Essential: Demonstrable knowledge of managing or supporting digital platforms and systems.
• Essential: Experience working with technology providers or similar suppliers and ability to communicate technical needs and manage external vendor relationships.
• Essential: Strong prioritisation skills and demonstrable experience in managing competing priorities.
• Essential: Ability to engage and consult with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
• Essential: Ability to gather stakeholder requirements and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Essential: Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly and effectively.
• Essential: Highly skilled at problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Essential: Strong understanding of academic publishing editorial and production processes and standards (e.g. metadata).

Responsibilities

• Support the journals platform as it moves into BAU and feed into the roadmap.
• Lead the delivery of platform roadmap with vendors and internal teams.
• Optimise content discoverability, accessibility and reusability.
• Maintain VPAT and ensure accessibility compliance.
• Monitor platform performance and spend, report trends and issues.
• Provide training and become an internal platform expert.
• Act as liaison between platform vendor and RSC stakeholders.
