Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is seeking Platers for opportunities in Appledore (EX39) with immediate starts anticipated. Roles involve manual or machine steel fabrication and assembly of ship structures.

Candidates should be able to read fabrication drawings, set-out and cut/fit steel components, and operate fabrication machinery. Travel allowance is paid weekly; BPSS clearance may be required for onboarding.

Qualifications

• Reading fabrication drawings and set-out marks required.
• Cutting and fabrication of structural steel components.
• Ability to operate steel fabrication machinery and shop cranes.
• Oxyfuel burning and joint/tack welding experience beneficial.

PLATERS WANTED! - APPLEDORE

We’re anticipating Plater opportunities in Appledore (EX39) and are currently getting ahead of the curve for candidates who may be interested.

Location: Appledore, EX39
Role: Platers
Anticipated starts: From 21/09
Rates:

PAYE £24.20 std per hour & £36.30 over 40 hrs + £8.90 per hour travel allowance (up to £356.00 per week)

UMBRELLA £32.40 std per hour & £49.11 over 40 hrs + £11.68 per hour travel allowance (up to £467.20 per week)

(Travel allowance is only paid for candidates who live 39 miles or more from site!)

Job Description

Manual or machine steel fabrication to form individual components and the subsequent assembly of those components to form assemblies, units and blocks, and ship structures.

Projects will cover a range of steel structures across the naval, marine, and repair sectors. The role will require flexibility between new-build structural steel fabrication and ship repair projects.

We’re looking for:

• Maintenance of a safe working environment
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings
• Set-out and mark-off work
• Cutting and fabrication of structural steel, including plate and profile sections
• Erect, align, set and tack steel parts and assemblies in workshops or dock environments
• Experience operating steel fabrication machinery and shop cranes
• Hand burning using oxyfuel equipment

Please note: Candidates will be responsible for arranging and covering their own accommodation and transportation.

All successful candidates will most likely be required to complete BPSS security clearance as part of the onboarding process.
