Job summary

Jewson in Luton is seeking a skilled Small Plant Fitter / Tool Hire Mechanic to service, repair and maintain a range of plant and tool hire equipment at our Dallow Road branch. You will diagnose faults, work on petrol and diesel engines, and ensure high safety and quality standards.

Applicants with mechanical or electrical backgrounds are welcome; full training is provided, with Monday–Friday hours and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical, electrical, or engineering roles.
• Ability to fault-find and solve faults.
• Comfort with electrical systems and petrol/diesel engines.
• Safety-focused, proactive and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair small plant and tool hire equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Work on petrol and diesel engines as well as electrically powered tools.
• Complete routine safety checks and inspections.
• Prepare equipment to a high standard for hire.
• Carry out planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Accurately complete job cards and maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.
• Support branch colleagues as part of a wider team.
