Job summary

FTH Hire Group is seeking a Plant Fitter for our Reading Depot to repair, service and maintain tools and powered access equipment, including electrical and hydraulic systems. You will work in a workshop with a team, attend occasional off-site breakdowns, and complete service paperwork using computer systems.

Desirable NVQ or equivalent in plant maintenance; applicants should be able to manage their time under pressure and communicate effectively within the team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in repairing plant hire equipment and powered access machinery is essential.
• An NVQ or equivalent qualification in plant maintenance is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Repairing, servicing and maintaining tools and powered access equipment including electrical and hydraulic repairs.
• Occasionally attend breakdowns off site if required.
• Work as part of a team in a workshop environment.
• Complete repair and service paperwork; computer literacy required.

FTH Hire Group is one of the largest and fastest-growing independent plant and tool hire companies in the UK, with nineteen depots across the South of England, Scotland and Wales. As a result of our ambitious growth plans, we are looking to add additional high-caliber people to our growing business.

Responsibilities

We currently have a requirement for a Plant Fitter to be based out of our Reading Depot and be responsible for:

• Repairing, servicing and maintaining all tools and powered access equipment including electrical and hydraulic repairs, along with petrol and diesel engines.
• Occasionally attend breakdowns off site if required
• Working as part of a team in a workshop environment
• PAT Testing desirable
• Completing any relevant repair and service paperwork. You will need to be computer literate for this.
• To participate in training programmes as required

Skills

Previous experience in repairing plant hire equipment and powered access machinery is essential.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience working in similar industry, strong communication and organisational skills and be able to manage their own time.

You will work well under pressure, have the ability to prioritise tasks and solve the problems. An NVQ or equivalent qualification in plant maintenance is desirable.
