Job summary

Tata Steel UK is seeking a Shift Manager for the Building Systems department in Shotton to plan, manage and oversee plant shift operations, ensuring safety, quality and production targets are met.

You will lead a diverse team, own people management, drive continuous improvement with Lean principles, coordinate maintenance and handovers, and act as on-site lead during out-of-hours operations.

Qualifications

• Leadership and people management experience in a multi-shift manufacturing setting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across functions.
• Experience implementing Lean and continuous improvement practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and oversee shift operations to meet safety, quality and production targets.
• Own people management for the shift and enable collaboration across teams.
• Drive operational excellence, audits, and adherence to standards.
• Lead on-site during out-of-hours operations and act as senior contact for management.
• Ensure delivery of KPIs, maintain safety, and coordinate cross-functional activities.
• Monitor performance, identify risks, and implement improvements.
• Coach teams to problem solve, implement countermeasures and sustain gains.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and projects to maximise plant availability.
• Lead, develop and motivate shift team members and ensure effective handovers.
