Job summary

Veolia UK in Marchwood, Hampshire, is seeking a Plant Operator to support daily operations, move bulk liquids, and assist with discharge from vehicles and barges. The role includes starting/stopping plant machinery, daily checks, and site housekeeping.

Overtime paid; 45 hours per week with early/late shifts. Full training and PPE provided, plus benefits and a strong commitment to safety and environment.

Qualifications

• Reliable and flexible team player who can work independently.
• Good numeracy and literacy.
• Some experience or interest in mechanical engineering would be desirable.
• Experience in wastewater treatment plant, processing plant or similar industrial environment preferred.
• Experience with spreadsheets and word processing advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence and forklift experience or certification preferred; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the Plant team with day-to-day operations, including transferring bulk liquids between storage tanks, sampling road tankers and assisting with the discharge of bulk liquids from vehicles and barges.
• Start and stop plant machinery as required, carry out daily check sheets, report defects and operate a forklift truck following full training.
• Carrying out general housekeeping duties such as litter picking, as well as basic maintenance tasks including greasing, chipping and painting.
• Monitor contractors and visitors to help ensure they remain safe while on site.
• Actively supporting the continuous improvement of the company’s QHSE Management Systems.
• Full training will be provided, and all required PPE and workwear will be supplied.

What you’ll be doing;

What we're looking for;

• A reliable and flexible team player who is also able to work independently and use their own initiative.
• Good levels of numeracy and literacy.
• Some experience of, or an interest in, mechanical engineering would be desirable.
• Previous experience working in a wastewater treatment plant, processing plant or similar industrial environment would be highly desirable.
• Experience using spreadsheets and word-processing documents would be advantageous.
• A full UK driving licence and forklift experience or certification would be desirable, although training will be provided..
