Job summary

Veolia in Chilton (Durham) is seeking a Plant Operator to support wood pellet production, monitor KPIs, and ensure safe, efficient plant operation. A full UK driving licence and reliable transport are required, with training provided for equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence and reliable transport.
• Strong IT skills to record and report data accurately.
• Ability to operate a range of mobile equipment after training.
• Previous experience in a similar production, processing, plant or operational role is advantageous.
• Completion of an engineering apprenticeship or operational training course would be advantageous.
• Understanding of quality control, KPI monitoring and safe plant operation.
• Willingness to undertake continued learning relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Handle raw materials and support product quality control throughout the wood pellet production process.
• Monitor production activity to ensure operational KPIs are achieved.
• Carry out routine plant inspections and implement operational adjustments as required.
• Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently in line with training and site procedures.
• Collect, record and report accurate plant and production data.
• Work in accordance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
• Comply with all relevant legislation, policies and operational procedures.
• Complete ongoing training and development to improve knowledge and skills.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri (Rotational shift pattern of 06:00-14:00 & 14:00 till 22:00)

• Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship or operational training course would be advantageous.
• An understanding of quality control, KPI monitoring and safe plant operation.
• A willingness to undertake continued learning and development relevant to the role.
