Job summary

Veolia Basildon Transfer Station is hiring a Plant Operative to support waste handling, sorting and transfer processes. You will help maintain a clean yard, marshal traffic and assist the site supervisor with daily operations.

The role is based at Basildon, operates within early shifts and requires relevant licences. The role offers a salary of £35,497.00 per year, 20 days of annual leave, and a range of employee benefits, with ongoing training and a commitment to a diverse and inclusive

Qualifications

• Essential forklift qualification and shovel licence.
• 360 grab licence and weighbridge knowledge are required.
• Ability to work in a team and hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Keep the yard area clean and tidy.
• Marshalling vehicle movement around the site at busy times.
• Assist the site supervisor with day-to-day site operations.

Job description

Salary: £35,497.00 per annum, plus Veolia benefits
Hours: 50 hours per week: Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:00
Saturday and Bank Holiday working required when requested.
Location: Basildon, SS13 1DL

At Veolia our Plant Operators are responsible for operating the necessary plant equipment involved in the handling, sorting and transferring of waste. By joining Veolia as a Plant Operative, you are playing your part in helping us to combat climate change. Veolia Basildon Transfer Station is located on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate with good public transport links. The site operates from 07:00 to 17.00 where the commercial department will dispose of their waste in Basildon up to 20,000 tonnes per year.

What will you be doing?

• Ensuring the yard area is kept clean
• Marshalling vehicle movement around the site at busy times
• Assisting site supervisor in day to day running of site operations

What we're looking for;

Essential:

• Forklift qualified
• Shovel licence
• 360 grab license
• Knowledge of using weighbridge systems
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

• Good communication skills
• Reversing assistant experience
