Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services (Uk) Plc is seeking a Plant Operator in Scotland to support the Energy Recovery Facility. You will operate and monitor plant, ensure Environmental Permit compliance, collect data, and maintain safe, efficient operations.

The role requires experience in a continuous process environment, a hands-on approach to mechanical and electrical plant, and willingness to work rotating shifts, including overtime.

Qualifications

• Engineering experience in a continuous process environment.
• Hands-on interest in mechanical and electrical plant.
• Experience with shift work and rotating duties.
• Good understanding of environmental and health & safety issues.
• Waste incineration experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the shift team leader with the operation and monitoring of plant from the central control room using the DCS, including the operations of refuse cranes.
• Ensuring day to day compliance with all aspects of the Environmental Permit, reporting any non-compliance or incidents to the Shift Team Leader.
• Carrying out routine plant inspections, adjustments and operations as required, collecting and recording plant data.
• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Energy Recovery Facility at all times.
• Monitoring stocks and taking receipts of consumables and collections.
• Working as part of the Operations team, assisting the Shift Team Leader and supporting other team members as required.
• Assisting other company staff and contractors as required.
• Undertaking personal development to enhance knowledge and skills relevant to the role.

Requirements

• Engineering experience working in a continuous process environment, preferably on steam generating equipment
• An interest in mechanical and electrical plant with some hands-on experience of plant operations is essential
• Experience gained through shift working, with the ability to work a continuous rotating shift pattern including overtime when required
• A good understanding of current environmental and health and safety issues
• Waste Incineration experience is desirable but not essential.
